Don’t fall into the feast or famine trap – When you first start your own business there will be periods where you will be very busy and then periods where you’re not busy at all. In order to avoid this cycle and even out your business make time in your schedule to market your business and do other maintenance tasks even when you are really busy. That way you will constantly have new work coming in and you won’t end up with periods of lots of activity and then periods with no activity.
Don’t rush your decision – Too many people get online and choose the first business that they find which is a huge mistake. You want to take your time and be sure you are choosing the right one for you or you will soon find yourself jumping from one opportunity to another.
When I stopped working, I found myself cutting back on expenses just so that I could generate more ‘operating capital’ for my business. Anyway, you’d probably be having too much fun with your business start-up to waste time on entertainment, buying DVDs, movies, going out to dinners, and shopping sprees just to name a few luxuries. You will be surprised how much money you can save for something of more value, your freedom!

You have to be rational enough to assess your current situation, creative enough to see what is possible, and have the integrity to follow through with the plan. Remember, just because it’s on paper doesn’t mean it will happen – you have to decide to follow through and live up to your goals.
You will need a lot of passion for your home business idea. If you do not love your business idea, you are not likely to succeed. You need to have lots of self-motivation. There will not be any colleagues to encourage you, or help you along the way. You will need to push yourself to get things done.
Development concepts not only have to be studied, they have to be applied. You have to have your own paradigm shifts and be a student of these concepts. A lot of these books and courses can be found on the internet and it’s important to know that it takes time and trial and error. You are not going to be able to change over-night but every investment you make in your education and yourself is going to pay off HUGE in the whole scheme of things.
